Registration Registrations is from 0800 to 0845. Because there is no entry fee, you will not be paired for the 1st round unless you check in with tournament officials. If you will be late and want to be paired for the first round, contact the tournament director prior to 0845.

Lodging NNMC Navy Lodge, Bethesda, MD. The telephone number for reservations is (301) 654-1795. The rate is $77 per night, no tax. All rooms are non-smoking. The block of rooms allocated for chess players is only good until 26 September so reserve your room ASAP. If you reserve after the deadline, availability is not guaranteed.
Prizes Trophies/Plaques to Top 3 overall players, Top player of each DoD service on Active Duty, Top Reservist, Top Retiree, Top three Cadets/Midshipmen/ROTC, Top two each class A-D and below, & Highest Upset. Other Trophies/Plaques and special prizes will be awarded as funding permits.
Byes Only 2 half point byes are available. The byes must be requested before the first round.

Details This is a US Chess Federation National Championship open to all active duty, reserve, & retired members of the US military and Coast Guard. ROTC and military academy personnel are also eligible.

The format is 6-round Swiss. Time controls from G/90 to 30/90, SD/60. See the round schedule for specifics.

Sunday Special Meetings 2000 The Annual Armed Forces Chess committee meeting and Welcome Aboard Military Chess players meeting.  One of the purposes of the meeting is to give you a forum to voice your opinion on the future development of U.S. Armed Forces Chess. Please, be there!
